CKD approves budget for new schools

In a meeting of its General House today, the Chief Khalsa Diwan (CKD) approved a budget of Rs 181.05 crore for the financial year 2025-26. The meeting was presided over by CKD president Dr Inderbir Singh Nijjar.

Nijjar along with honorary secretary of CKD Swinder Singh Kathunangal presented details of the budget, revealing that the CKD anticipates an 18 per cent increase in its income as compared to the previous year.

At the same time, expenditure too is expected to rise by 24 per cent. CKD’s finance committee member Ajitpal Singh Aneja shared that Rs 6.5 crore has been earmarked for the construction of a school on the newly acquired land at Attari. A further Rs 5 crore has been allocated for the building of a school at Batala.

The CKD also has plans to construct another school at Balachaur at a cost of Rs 1.5 crore on land donated by Sant Baba Daljit Singh. It has also proposed to purchase land at Sursingh at a cost of Rs 1.5 crore and at Asal Uttar at a cost of Rs one crore.

Additionally, Rs 18 crore has been earmarked for the development and expansion of CKD schools.

Aneja said that Rs 99 lakh has been set aside for “Dharam Parchar” and Rs 1.15 crore has been allocated for Adarsh schools, which are part of CKD’s education system.

The CKD General House passed the budget unanimously and considered the proposed initiatives as a significant step toward the expansion and progress of CKD with a strong focus on education, infrastructure and religious outreach.

During the meeting, the General House approved the opening of a new school on a property at Mao Sahib (Phillaur) and development of 14 acres of land at Tugalwala (Gurdaspur) for educational purposes.

The members also approved the proposal to include Dr Harmohinder Singh Nagpal as a CKD member to meet the university requirements for increasing seats at CKD International Nursing College. The General House also approved the formation of a committee to initiate action against those defaming CKD by spreading misleading and false propaganda on social media.
