CKD sports meet was inaugurated at Sri Guru Harkrishan Senior Secondary Public School, amidst great zeal and frolicsome atmosphere.
Chief Khalsa Diwan Charitable Society (CKDCS) president Nirmal Singh was the chief guest for the event and Bhag Singh Ankhi, chairman of schools and member in-charge of the society, and Prof Hari Singh, member in-charge of GT Road School, were guests of honour.
The mega event commenced with invocation of blessings of the Almighty by singing school anthem. It was followed by an address by the school principal in which he formally welcomed the esteemed dignitaries. He told the audience that about 700 students of the school would compete in six events, namely taekwondo, fencing, table tennis, badminton, rope skipping and chess game.
The chief guest hoisted the school flag. He released balloons to declare the sports meet open. In his speech, Nirmal Singh motivated students to give their best in the athletic meet. Bhag Singh Ankhi encouraged students to remain disciplined while taking part in the games.
Sports captain Parneet Kaur of Class XII took an oath on behalf of all sportspersons to display fair game during the entire meet. The event was well punctuated with a welcome dance by the tiny tots of the school, who enchanted the audience with their marvelous moves. A foot tapping bhangra by students of Classes XI and XII was also presented.
Among others present on the occasion were Jaspal Singh Dhillon, Sukhjinder Singh Prince, Niranjan, Mohanjit Singh Bhalla and Santokh Singh Sethi.
