Cleanliness drive launched at Ram Bagh in Amritsar

Municipal Corporation (MC) Commissioner Harpreet Singh and Additional Commissioner Surinder Singh visited Ram Bagh, commonly known as Company Bagh, along with officials and sanitation staff of the health and civil wing and inspected the cleanliness in various parts of the garden. MC Commissioner instructed sanitation and civil wing staff to clean garbage and debris from corners of the garden. The residents, on a morning walk in the garden, applauded the cleanliness drive launched by the MC and thanked officials concerned.

They urged MC Commissioner to visit Company Bagh once in a month so that cleanliness could be maintained in the garden. Residents also demanded that streetlights must be installed on the walking route in the garden so that visitors can come for walk in the wee and late evening hours. MC Commissioner assured them that all their concerns would be addressed on priority. He also appealed to residents to maintain cleanliness in the garden. The MC Commissioner said, “Ram Bagh is a heritage property of the holy city where all sections of society enjoy morning and evening walk. Also, a number of tourists visit Maharaja Ranjit Singh Panorama, Summer Palace Museum and other sites inside garden. Many families come for picnic in the garden. Its duty of the MC to maintain cleanliness in the garden.”

The MC Commissioner said he would visit Company Bagh and other parks in the city regularly to check cleanliness and other issues pertaining to basic amenities. He instructed officials to keep all parks green and garbage free. He directed medical officer of the health wing to issue challans to all those who litter in Company Bagh. He also asked the medical officer to depute employees permanently to keep a check on littering in the garden.

Superintending Engineer Sandeep Singh, health officer Kiran Kumar and other officials were also present during the inspection.
