Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann flags off STEM mobile bus to take S&T to govt school students

In a push for STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) in government schools of Punjab, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Monday flagged off a STEM mobile bus, which will go to schools and help clarify the concepts of students in science, technology, engineering and maths. The bus will spark children’s interest in learning and students from Grade 6 to 12 and help them prove their prowess in sessions on science and maths. The bus is equipped with laboratory style subject-specific tools to help students understand concepts through experiments and application-based method.

Fully equipped with robotics, electronics kits and model-making setups, the bus is designed to provide interactive and real-time STEM learning experiences to learners across the district. Science mentors in each district have been asked to prepare for the STEM bus visit.

After 848 students from government schools qualified for the NEET exam, 265 students cleared JEE Mains and 45 cleared JEE Advanced exam, the Education Department’s focus has been on upgrading STEM learning through experiential methods in government schools. Currently, Meritorious Schools and Schools of Eminence offer free coaching for STEM students but through increased interactive tools in other government schools as well. The district Education Department has been asked to list the schools in rural and urban areas where the STEM bus can halt.
