The teachers have been agitating under the ambit of the Computer Teachers’ Sangharsh Committee, Punjab. It had come to Tarn Taran on October 26 to stage a protest for their demands against the alleged indifferent attitude of the state government, and had now decided to continue the protest for an indefinite period here.

The teachers are agitating under the banner of the Computer Teachers Sangharsh Committee, Punjab. Joni Singla, state president of the organisation, besides Ranjit Singh, Iqbal Singh, Nardeep Sharma, Rajwant Kaur, Harjinder Kaur and others leaders said here today that they had been demanding benefits of the recommendations of the Sixth Pay Commission and to include (merge) their services in the Education Department by implementing the Civil Service Rules on them.

The leaders said that the state government had not responded to their demands so far, due to which they had been forced to intensify their struggle. They have warned that the struggle they have started would continue until their demands were accepted.

The leaders have appealed to the state government and Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann to take the initiative to accept their demands. They condemned the state government for its dilly-dallying policy towards their genuine demands and said that the government called them a number of times to discuss their demands, but mostly the meetings were cancelled without any reason.
