Computer teachers seek merger with Edu Dept
Amritsar, March 7
Calling out the state government for running away from promises made to the computer teachers who are struggling to get their demands accepted during the ongoing session of the Vidhan Sabha, the teacher unions, including Democratic Teachers Front and computer teachers from the district, expressed resentment over government action on protesting teachers in arresting and using force against them.
Condemning the behaviour of the Punjab government, especially against computer teachers, state president of Democratic Teachers Front, Punjab, Vikram Dev Singh said that the behaviour of the state government towards the employees of Punjab is reprehensible. He said the Aam Aadmi Party after coming to power is shying away from promises made to employees by the Education Minister, Finance Minister and others due to which the employees were protesting. They mentioned the incident where the computer teachers marching towards the Vidhan Sabha in Chandigarh were detained by the police.
The teachers said that computer teachers are demanding merger with the Education Department after they were regularised. “Even after regularisation, there is no job security and they are being deprived of increased wages under the Sixth Pay Commission as entitled to government employees in the state. Their demand for merger should be fulfilled by the Punjab government as it was promised by Education Minister Harjot Bains on many occasions,” said Germanjit Singh, a government school teacher from Amritsar.
