Congress workers under the leadership of former MLA Harminder Singh Gill, president, District Congress Committee, organised a protest in Shakri village against the state government alleging that the law and order situation had worsened in Punjab.

Speaking on the occasion, Gill alleged that Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, along with his colleagues, was in Delhi for more than a month to appease his political bosses, leaving law and order at the mercy of anti-social elements. He said the administration in the state had collapsed as looting, snatching, extortion, killings and smuggling of drugs and illegal arms from across the border was rampant. The District Congress Committee president alleged that corruption was at its height as the government had lost control over the state machinery.

Many families with different political affiliations joined the Congress party on the occasion. Gill called upon people to strengthen the Congress party for the development of the state.
