Consumer panel orders refund to customer over faulty charging cable
The District Consumer Disputes Redressal Forum has directed a private store working as service centre for an MNC to refund Rs 1,800 charged from a customer for sale of a charging cable for the phone along with Rs 2,000 as compensation for negligence in service.
Advocate Kuljeet Singh, a resident of Malawali village here had earlier filed a complaint with the Forum against Tresor Systems Private Ltd, located at the Mall road, stating that he had purchased a USB charging cable for his iPhone from the store with a guarantee of replacement within a year.
Advocate Singh stated that the cable stopped charging within the guarantee period after which he approached the store. He complained that despite several visits, the store refused to replace the cable which forced him to file a complaint.
As the opposite party failed to join the proceedings, the Forum in its orders announced ex-parte, directed the store to pay nine per cent interest on the sale amount of USB cable from the date of submission of complaint.
