Even after a lapse of 24 hours, the police are still clueless about the perpetrators of the murderous assault on hotelier Harpreet Singh, alias Anmol Chadha, in the Ranjit Avenue area here on Saturday.

The police have registered a case of attempt to murder against unidentified shooters while police teams are scrutinising CCTV cameras located in the area to find clues about the perpetrators.

The police were also analysing the mobile phone which was recovered from near the spot. After hours of hard work, the police managed to open the lock of the mobile phones and further investigation was under progress to identify the people behind the attack.

The police have been working on different theories to crack the case. Anmol Chadha had lodged a complaint against his uncle and some anti-social elements who tried to enter his hotel. Chadha claimed ownership of the hotel saying that he had the stay order in his favour. The two groups had even reached a compromise earlier.

Police Commissioner Arun Pal Singh said the investigations were under progress and nothing could be shared at this point of time. He said efforts were on to identify and arrest the perpetrators.

Chadha along with his driver was going to Starbucks coffee house in the Ranjit Avenue area. As he came out of his SUV, two scooter-borne persons came and started firing at Chadha. He had a narrow escape in the incident.

He urged Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, DGP VK Bhawra and the Police Commissioner to arrest the accused. He also urged them to ensure the safety of his family following the incident.
