Even after the lapse of 24 hours, the police have yet to make any breakthrough in a case related to a beheaded body of a man found in the Lopoke area.

The deceased was apparently a youth whose body was dumped by unknown killers in fields along the Ram Tirath road heading towards Khasa. The police said the message of finding a body of an unknown person had been flashed in all police stations across Punjab, besides on the social media platform, but they were yet to get any clues about the deceased.

Manpreet Singh of Khiala Kalan village told the police that he and his brother had taken 30 acres on contract from Jatinderpal Singh of Maure Khurd village. He said the land was around five feet away from the road. He said yesterday he and his brother went to fields for work around 8 am when they found something wrapped in a “Lohi” (shawl). He said when they went near it, they discovered that it was body of an unknown youth. Manpreet said he immediately informed the police about the body. The name tattooed on the arm of the deceased was brunt with an acid.

Balkar Singh, SHO, Lopoke police station, said all police stations in Punjab had been informed about the body of the youth. Details of persons, who had gone missing in the past few days, was being collected.

“The police teams are also checking footage of the CCTV cameras on the route to find clues about the killers,” he said. He said the deceased could be from outside Punjab. “If the body could not be identified within 72 hours, the police would send it to the Government Medical College for autopsy,” he said.
