The SGPC, which is already supplying ration and aid for the flood victims of Ajnala, Sultanpur Lodhi and other parts of Punjab, today announced to give one day’s salary of its employees to the flood victims.

Volunteers of the Baba Kashmir Singh Bhuriwale set up stalls serving langar to the affected people and passersby. A volunteer Ram Singh said round-the-clock langar was regularly being offered at the place since the flood hit the area. Separate canopies have been set up to serve water, cooked food, tea and rusks to people.

Volunteers of the Muslim Welfare Society, Dera Bassi, were seen distributing medicines and water among people. In the midst of the devastating floods that ravaged villages in Amritsar’s border belt, the Diocese of Amritsar, Church of North India (CNI), launched a lifeline of hope for flood-hit villagers.

Wading through deep waters, relief teams of the diocese are braving the odds to deliver food, medical supplies and shelter to those in need. “We’ve accessed villages like Talwandi Tapala in Dera Baba Nanak, Chakbala in Ajnala, which had no access previously,” said the bishop.
