Dal Khalsa, SAD (A) to hold protests on Republic Day eve
The Dal Khalsa and SAD (A) have joined hands to stage massive protest marches on the eve of Republic Day in the Majha, Doaba and Malwa regions.
At a press conference today, Dal Khalsa working president Paramjit Singh Mand said the protest would be staged against fake encounters, extra-judicial and extra-territorial targeted killings, wrongful detentions, imposition of black laws like UAPA, NSA to stifle dissidents, government’s ‘anti-farmer’ and ‘pro-corporate’ policies and denial of right to self-determination for ethnic minorities.
He further said activists of their organisations would march on the streets of Gurdaspur (Majha), Jalandhar (Doaba) and Mansa (Malwa) on January 25.
SAD (A) general secretary Harpal Singh Blair said that while a majority of Sikhs continue to participate in the political life of India, the religio-political future of the people of Punjab was at risk. “Our groups will contest and resist the ‘hypocrisy’ of the Indian government, which is continuing its tirade and onslaught against Sikhs settled worldwide,” he said.
Leaders of both organisations extended their best wishes to President Donald Trump, stating that, “the Sikhs look forward to support and succour to tackle challenges being faced by Sikhs globally.”
