The Department of History, Travel and Tourism at DAV College, on Thursday kickstarted a 10-day online lecture series on the international history under the aegis of Gandhian Study Centre.
Prof Shilpi Seth of the department was the convener of the series. Around 200 people participated in the inaugural lecture that featured Dr GS Chauhan, Joint Secretary UGC, New Delhi, Dr Dalvir Singh Pannu, California based author, Prof Kamlesh Mohan, PU Chandigarh, Prof Zubair Ahmed, Old Islamia College, Lahore and Amardeep Singh, an author from Singapore.
The first lecture was delivered by Dr Dalvir Singh Pannu, who spoke on the scope of sikh heritage and academic research in Pakistan. Meanwhile, Prof Kamlesh Mohan addressed the plight of punjabi women torn between tradition and modernity.
A lecture on Mahatma Gandhi, an icon of global peace and non-violence, was given by Dr GS Chauhan. While, Amardeep Singh spoke on the Nanakpanthis of Indus.
