The Department of Chemistry and Department of Biotechnology ofDAV College, Amritsar, organised a three-day trip to wetland and bird sanctuary, Harike. Principal Dr Amardeep Gupta said that such educational trips are essential for students to obtain practical knowledge of the subject so as to compliment theory. “The purpose of the trip was to identify the different local and migratory birds and know their significance, habitat, purpose of migration, behaviour etc. The students also learnt about the history of migratory birds coming to Harike and documented the species of animals and birds found at the wetland.

Guided by Dr Chander Prakash from IK Gujral Punjab Technical University, Jalandhar, the educational trip was designed to disseminate information regarding Harike and its significance as a sustainable ecosystem.
