DC: No relaxation for Ramadan
Amritsar: Deputy Commissioner Shivdullar Singh Dhillon on Sunday said the government has given no relaxation in the curfew till May 3. He said as per the directions, no relaxation has been granted for Ramadan. The DC said the government has ordered a health audit of grain markets in view of the procurement season. The decision was taken to ensure safety of farmers and others at the grain market amid the accelerating spread of Covid-19. Meanwhile, teams of the Food and Civil Supplies Department raided several shops here on Sunday. It imposed Rs 15,000 penalties on two shopkeepers for alleged discrepancies in weighing products. TNS
Official of Health Department attacked
Tarn Taran: Amarjit Singh, an official of the Health Department, was attacked in Shekhchak village, 12 km from here, on Saturday. He was sent by the department to recommend a village resident, who has recently returned after harvesting wheat in a neighbouring state, to remain in quarantine for 14 days. However, when he reached there, he was attacked by Ranjit Singh, said Amarjit. The police have booked Ranjit Singh. OC
