Under the banner of PSEB Employees Joint Forum and Bijli Mulazam Ekta Manch, powercom employees staged a protest rally in front of the local circle office of the powercom on Wednesday against not implementing their accepted demands.

The employees from all the powercom offices attended the rally. Gurpreet Singh Gandiwind, Mangal Singh Nagoke, Pooran Das and other state leaders were among the others who addressed on the occasion. The leaders said Power Minister and Secretary of the department Harbhajan Singh ETO attended the meeting. In the meeting, the powercom management and the state government, led by Minister Harbhajan Singh ETO, accepted the demands to consider the employees who died on duty as the status of ‘Shaheed’ and the give Rs 1 crore as compensation to the aggrieved families. But it had not been implemented as yet even after the assurance was given. The leaders said other demands of the employees were also accepted in the meeting which have not been implemented yet.

The protesting employees shouted slogans against the state government and the management. They warned them about intensifying their agitation in case their accepted demands were not implemented without delay. The employees’ organisation declared to stage a dharna in front of the Harbhajan Singh’s residence in Amritsar on September 1 in case the demands were not implemented.
