A nagar kirtan, dedicated to the 550th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev, that started from Sultanpur Lodhi (Kapurthala) on Saturday, departed for its next destination on Sunday. The religious procession was organised by a Sri Mukatsar Sahib-based religious body ‘Nirol Sewa Sanstha’. “After visiting different parts of the state, the nagar kirtan will reach Gurdwara Kartarpur Sahib (Pakistan) through Dera Baba Nanak corridor on March 7”, said Dr Jagdeep Singh Sodhi, main organiser of the nagar kirtan.
The nagar kirtan, led by five beloveds( Panj Piaras), departed for Gurdwara Bir Baba Budha Sahib on Sunday from local Darbar Sahib which would proceed to Gurdwara Pahuwind and then make its night stay at Patti town tonight. Bhai Balwinder Singh Uboke, manager, local Darbar Sahib, said the nagar kirtan was given a warm welcome here by area residents. The five beloveds (Panj Piyaras) and organisers of the nagar kirtan were honoured with siropas.
Beautiful paintings, depicting the life and journey of Guru Nanak Dev, in the nagar kirtan were the centre of attraction. Residents of Noordi, Kot Dharam Chand Kalan and Jhabal villages seved langar for sangat.
