The PDAC has been pushing for increase in their monthly pension under the social security scheme to Rs 2,500 as per the ‘guarantee’ assured to them at the time of the election of the state Vidhan Sabha in 2022 by top leaders of the AAP.

Lakhbir Singh Saini, state president of the PDAC, led the march in which the diviangs (differently abled) of Tarn Taran and Amritsar districts participated. The march started from the local Jhabal-Amritsar bypass and the members were to proceed to the District Administrative Complex where they were to stage adharna on the national highway and were to block traffic.

A large police force led by Ajayraj Singh, SP (Investigation), stopped them near the SDM office and did not let them proceed.

The differently abled protesters staged a dharna at the SDM office where they wrote their memorandum demanding increase in their monthly pension as promised to them in the run-up to the election.

A copy each of the memorandum was submitted to AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal, Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, Punjab Vidhan Sabha Speaker Kultar Singh Sandhwan and Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema.
