DIG reviews crime scene, awards cops

DIG, Border Range, Nanak Singh, today held a crime review meeting with all gazetted officers, senior officials and SHOs of Amritsar rural police here today.

The meeting focused on a detailed review of pending cases, ongoing investigations and the overall performance of police in the district apart from security arrangements in view of the spurt in seizure of sophisticated weapons and explosives from the border belt.

Maninder Singh, Senior Superintendent of Police (Amritsar Rural) and Aditya Warrier, SP (Detective), along with other senior officers and field staff, were also present.

On the occasion, the DIG honoured 134 police personnel for exemplary performance by presenting them cash rewards worth Rs 8.90 lakh, along with DGP Commendation Discs and Commendation certificates.

While highlighting the achievements of the ongoing state-wide campaign, "War Against Drugs", DIG Nanak Singh shared the latest figures from Amritsar rural police's anti-narcotics operations. He said since the launch of the statewide campaign against drugs, the Amritsar rural police have registered as many as 879 FIRs and arrested 1,491 drug peddlers and criminals.
