Dist-level art festival gets underway

The two-day district-level art festival competition organised by the Education Department to connect the students of government, aided and private schools of the state kicked off on Thursday with students from 282 schools participating.

The purpose of these competitions is to make the students aware of cultural diversity and to highlight their hidden talent. Kanwaljit Singh Sandhu, District Education Officer (A&S), and Rajesh Khanna, Deputy DEO, inaugurated the event by planting a sapling in the courtyard of Sri Harkrishan Public School, under the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ campaign.

Addressing the students and teachers, Kanwaljit Singh Sandhu said that competitions like Kala Utsav play an important role in revealing the hidden talent of the students and help them in achieving their goals.

In the results of various competitions held on the first day of the art festival, School of Eminence, Mall Road, won the first place in traditional storytelling, Palsikar School, Beas, won the second place, Khalsa College (Girls) Senior Secondary School won the first place in group dance, Sri Guru Harkrishan International School, Ranjit Avenue, won the second place, while in vocal solo, Khalsa College (Girls) Senior Secondary School won the first place and Khalsa College International School won the second place.
