Drug peddler arrested with 1 kg of heroin
The Amritsar Rural Police have arrested a drug peddler, identified as Mangal Singh, alias Baba Manga, a resident of the border village of Daoke, and recovered 1 kg of heroin from his possession.
He was travelling on a bike when a team of the Gharinda police intercepted him following a tip-off. The police also seized his mobile phone and registered a case under the NDPS Act against him.
The police said he already had a drug smuggling case registered against him in September last year. They said investigations were in progress to ascertain his backward and forward links.
He was produced in a court and brought on police remand for interrogation.
