Dhaliwal said that the government will also help citizens who spread awareness about the benefits of coarse grains that are rich in nutrients.

Mayor Jatinder Singh Moti Bhatia and MLA Jeevanjot Kaur were among those present at the inaugural ceremony. Earlier, a walkathon was flagged off in the morning. Deputy Commissioner Sakshi Sawhney said the aim is to create awareness among masses and farmers. “It is medically proven that due to the high amount of gluten in wheat, many get allergies and fall sick. Also, it can cause damage to soil by use of chemicals, which needs to be stopped immediately.”

The guests carefully inspected the various stalls set up at the fair to promote natural farming and coarse grains and appreciated the efforts of the organisers.
