Rasulpur village, situated on National Highway No. 54, just three kilometres away from Tarn Taran town, takes pride in its contributions to social, religious, political, cultural, educational and other fields.
The village has a population of 5,300 and is spread in over 900 acres of land. It is proud to be the central point of many nearby well-known villages like Bangalipur, Piddi, Sheron, Kaler etc. It is a matter of great importance that residents of nearby villages come here to board a bus or other vehicles for their destination, which adds to the dignity of the village. It provides job avenues to the residents also. The lack of any bus shed at an appropriate site is sorely missed.
Sewa Singh, a resident of the village who is 90 plus, claims that it was Sir Joginder Singh, a resident of the village, who was awarded the title of ‘Sir’ for his rich contribution to society by the British Government . He was also given the status of a judge. He was also provided with a huge bungalow with all facilities in the village-run court beside landed property too. The remains are still present in the village. Satinderpal Singh, former Sarpanch of the village, also confirmed all these facts.
There was a Gharat situated on the bank of Upper Bari Doab Canal (UBDC) from where residents from nearby areas used to come to grind wheat and other food grain. It is an advantage for the village that due to its suitable location, the state government has opened the Judicial Court Complex and the District Administrative Complex here. Residents are satisfied that the land from where the court once worked, has turned into the present court complex. The old heritage is seen through this building which is of an old design and model. Sewa Singh still remembers that Ajiju Din was the the clerk (Munshi) of Sir Joginder Singh and the litigants used to submit their complaints to him. As the Upper Bari Doab Canal passes through the village, it was made the tehsil headquarters where the canal rest house is also located. The SDO, Canal, has been working from here till date. The water courses of Rasulpur distributary, to enhance water management and irrigation efficiency in the region, were encouraged by the British regime.
Gurdwara Baba Chahia and Gurdwara Gursar Sahib and others are the main attractions for residents of the area. There are some more religious places in the village, all of which hold special attraction for the villagers. As the main offices of the administration have been working from the jurisdiction of the DAC, the price of landed property has sky-rocketed.
