Edu institutions in Tarn Taran hold assemblies to pay tributes to Guru Tegh Bahadur
350th year of martyrdom of Guru Tegh Bahadur
Many educational institutions held assemblies dedicated to the 350th year of martyrdom of Guru Tegh Bahadur, Bhai Mati Das, Bhai Sati Das and Bhai Dayala Ji on Monday as a mark of respect to them.
Students of Guru Amardas Adarsh Institute, Goindwal Sahib, took part in the shabad recitation competition. Baljit Kaur Randhawa and Jatinderpal Singh Randhawa, president and director of the institute, respectively, inspired the students to always be ready to help others without any caste discrimination, keeping in mind the martyrdom of Guru Tegh Bahadur.
At the local Wisdom School of Academics and Sports, students and staff members recited shabad kirtan and path, creating a spiritual atmosphere. A special assembly was conducted in which students beautifully presented poems and shared the history and supreme sacrifice of Guru Tegh Bahadur, who is remembered as ‘Hind di Chadar’ for his unparalleled courage and commitment to protecting humanity and religious freedom.
At another local institute, Mamta Niketan School, students presented poems mentioning the sacrifices of the Guru. There were slogan writing, poster making, poem recitation and quiz competitions too. Gurcharan Kaur, principal of the school, spoke on the life of Guru Tegh Bahadur.
The local Universal Academy organised a special assembly on Monday to commemorate the martyrdom day of the Guru. During the assembly, students and teachers paid homage to the Guru through prayers, hymns and speeches, highlighting his teachings and legacy.
Principal Jasbeer Kaur Sidhu addressed the gathering, emphasizing the importance of Guru Tegh Bahadur’s martyrdom and its relevance in today’s world. She highlighted his unwavering commitment to justice, equality and protection of human rights.
Nagar Kirtan taken out in Tarn Taran
As part of the initiative of Sikh religious bodies led by the Tarn Taran Jora Ghar Sewak Sabha and manager, Darbar Sahib, Tarn Taran, a very colourful Nagar Kirtan was taken out in Tarn Taran on Monday.
Harjinder Singh, manager, Darbar Sahib, stated that the Nagar Kirtan was dedicated to the 350th anniversary of the martyrdom of Guru Tegh Bahadur, Bhai Mati Das, Bhai Sati Das and Bhai Dayala Ji and the 350th celebration of the ‘Gugaddi divas’ of Guru Gobind Singh. Sangat from all over Tarn Taran and nearby villages took part in it, which was led by the’ panj piaras’.
At the beginning of the Nagar Kirtan, Bhai Sahib Satpal Singh, head granthi, Darbar Sahib, Tarn Taran, offered the ardas and a police contingent gave salute as a mark of respect. The procession which started from Sri Guru Harkrishan Public School here, passed through the city markets from Chowk Bohri and ended at Sri Guru Arjan Dev Saran. City residents gave a grand welcome to the Nagar Kirtan at various places. Band and gatka parties added to the pomp and show.
