Around 3,000 cops were deputed for security in view of the municipal corporation elections, said the Police Commissioner, adding that all police officials, including the DCP, the ADCP and ACP-rank officials, will remain on field duty to ensure law and order during the elections.

Out of total 811 polling booths set up for elections in the 85 wards, 307 booths have been declared sensitive and 245 as very sensitive. The Police Commissioner said extra forces would be deputed at these booths to thwart any untoward incident.

“Policemen have been deputed at every nook and corner of the city to ensure peaceful, free and fair elections. Appropriate measures have been made at every single polling booth. No would be allowed to tinker with the law and order situation,” said the Police Commissioner.
