Employees, pensioners hold protest over unmet demands

Employees and pensioners of the state government expressed resentment against the state government by burning an effigy of the government in front of the circle office of Powercom in Tarn Taran city on Monday.

A call in this regard was given by the Punjab Mulazam te Pensioners Joint Front. Baljinder Singh Doblian, Gurpreet Singh Gandiwind and other leaders of different unions addressed the gathering on the occasion. In their respective addresses, the leaders condemned the state government for not accepting even a single demand of the employees or the pensioners since it came to power.

They said every section of society was feeling cheated due to the negligent attitude of the state government. They demanded the release of 15 per cent dearness allowance, reinstatement of the blocked allowances, removing of discrepancies in the Sixth Pay Commission, etc. The leaders condemned state government’s move to de-link dearness allowance with the Union Government.
