During his visit, Aujla interacted with villagers and listened to their concerns. He highlighted the issue of illegal encroachments on the Sakki drain, stating that its original width of nearly 200 ft has now been reduced to just 50 ft due to unauthorized constructions.
He added that these encroachments have obstructed the natural flow of water, contributing significantly to the flooding of fields and worsening the overall flood situation. Aujla asked the authorities to remove the encroachments and restore the drain to its original capacity.
Accompanied by his son Babar Aujla, the MP also distributed relief material to those affected by the floods. He said that special teams have been formed to ensure aid reaches every impacted village. “I have directed the teams to personally approach every victim in the affected areas of Ajnala and Lopoke subdivisions,” he said, adding that his teams would remain on the ground until conditions return to normal.
Aujla added that this is not a time for politics, this is a time to rise above party lines and serve humanity. “I am fully committed to that responsibility,” he said.
He also appealed to villagers to share their requirements without hesitation, assuring them that truckloads of relief materials are being continuously dispatched to the flood-affected areas. These include food grains, clean drinking water, fruits, milk, livestock fodder and other essential supplies. Additionally, medical teams have been deployed to provide immediate treatment to the sick and injured.
