Punjab Cabinet Minister Harbhajan Singh ETO carried out a surprise inspection at the Jandiala Guru bus stand on Friday evening. During the visit, he found Punjab Roadways Inspector Rajinder Singh, who was officially posted at the site, absent from duty. As a result, the Inspector was immediately suspended on the grounds of dereliction of duty.

According to the orders issued by the General Manager of Punjab Roadways Amritsar-1, Rajinder Singh, employee number 462, had been assigned duty at the GT Road Jandiala Guru bus stand. However, during the minister’s inspection, he was found missing from the site. Disciplinary action was promptly initiated, and he was suspended under Rule 4(1) of the Punjab Civil Services (Punishment and Appeal) Rules, 1970.

During the surprise inspection, Cabinet Minister Harbhajan Singh ETO noticed a large number of stranded passengers at the bus stand, visibly distressed due to a lack of transportation. Moved by their plight, the minister personally intervened, stopping buses and assisting passengers in boarding.

He also directed Punjab Roadways officials to ensure that no bus is allowed to depart from the Jandiala Guru bus stand without picking up passengers or deviate from its assigned route arbitrarily.

“Passengers should not face unnecessary inconvenience due to negligence or unauthorised practices by staff,” the minister emphasised.
