ETO distributes grants worth Rs 1.72 crore to Jandiala Guru villages

Cabinet minister Harbhajan Singh ETO invited the villagers of Jandiala Guru constituency to elect their panchayat unanimously. He said it will end factionalism and help in the rapid development of villages. He said the village that unanimously chooses the panchayat will be given a stadium or a school or a hospital in addition to a grant of Rs 5 lakh by the Punjab government.

He stated this during his address to villagers in his constituency before handing over development grants on Sunday.

He said the Bhagwant Mann-led AAP government will not allow dearth of funds to come in the way of development of villages, but the funds should be invested according to the need and quality of work to ensure the grants are used properly.

He distributed grants worth Rs 1.72 crore for various development works in the villages falling under his constituency, Jandiala Guru.

After listening to the problems of the people, he instructed the officials to solve the problems on the spot and also instructed to fix the time limit for each work.

He distributed grants to 10 villages. A grant of Rs 9.10 lakh was given to Malowal village, Rs 5 lakh to Talwandi, Rs 13.44 lakh to Jabbowal, Rs 14 lakh to Muchhal, Rs 11 lakh to Jodhangari, Rs 8 lakh to Kot Khaira, Rs 60 lakh to Dehriwal, Rs 9 lakh to Rumana Chak, and another Rs 9 lakh to Saidpur village.

Apart from this, he inaugurated the construction of a market in Taragarh gram panchayat which will cost Rs 13 lakh and gave a grant of Rs 2.5 lakh for installing lights in the market. During his visit, the minister heard the problems of MGNREGA workers and directed the officials to provide continuous work to them. He said that in the villages where MGNREGA work is less, work can be created through other means including planting saplings on roads.
