Punjab Minister Harbhajan Singh ETO today distributed grants of Rs 25.25 lakh to 16 gram panchayats of Jandiala Guru. He said that these grants are being given under the Rural Development Organisation (RDO) scheme with which the gram panchayats will be able to develop their villages.
These grants include purposes such as installation of solar lights, solid and liquid waste management, purchasing land for graveyards and for upgrading local schools. Cabinet Minister ETO asked all gram panchayats to carry out these development works under their supervision. He said that these funds are to be used for public welfare only. He also issued appointment letters to five youths for jobs in PSPCL on compassionate grounds.
ETO has been actively visiting several villages in his constituency after the General Election. He has been actively engaging with the rural voters of the constituency, with an eye on the impending municipal elections and gram panchayat polls. He also planted trees in the PSPCL compound and approved installation of new transformers in the area ??at a cost of Rs 26.08 lakh to ease power supply to consumers of different villages.
