Harbhajan Singh ETO, Cabinet Minister for Public Works (B&R) and Power, Punjab, laid the foundation stone of special repairs on the Khadoor Sahib-Vein Poin-Dhotian road here on Sunday.

A public gathering under the leadership of Khadoor Sahib MLA Manjinder Singh Lalpura was organised on the occasion. While addressing the gathering, Harbhajan Singh ETO said the 11.56-km road stretch would be constructed by the Public Works Department (B&R) at an estimated cost of Rs 6.10 crore.

The minister said construction work would be completed within nine months and the contractor would be responsible for the maintenance of the road till five years. ETO said the state government was focusing on providing a new look to the roads leading to religious places.

He said as the road from Khadoor Sahib connects the Tarn Taran and Goindwal Sahib National Highways, residents of Vein Poin, Dhotian and other villages would be major beneficiaries of the improved road infrastructure.

He apprised the gathering of the welfare schemes and development works being done by the Punjab Government. In his address, Manjinder Singh Lalpura said over 92 per cent people of the state were getting zero electricity bills. He said the Khadoor Sahib-Dhotian road must have the facility of thermoplastic marking and the cat-eye facility for safe driving. ETO and the MLA were honoured by area people for providing them better facilities.
