He said that he would continue to work for development of the holy city, adding that he would continue to strive to realise the concept of 'Viksit Amritsar’ that he had presented during the Lok Sabha elections as BJP candidate which he had lost.

Commenting on the series of the threatening emails, he said sending such threats to religious places was wrong and those who were behind should refrain from it.

He pointed out that Amritsar, which is a historically and strategically important city, was still struggling with many problems and needs. To overcome these challenges, he said, concerted efforts are being made under the ‘Viksit Amritsar’ initiative, which focuses on areas like health, tourism, agriculture, industry, trade, education, information technology, and women empowerment.

He said the initiative launched by him has played a significant role in establishing collaboration between Guru Nanak Dev University and Maryland State University. He also informed under the Viksit Amritsar initiative, scholarships will be provided to students of Amritsar studying in Maryland University.
