Expert lecture by GNDU ex-student from Budapest

The Department of Physics organised an expert lecture on “X-ray and Neutron Diffraction Techniques” for developing state-of the-art energy conversion and storage devices. Dr Hirdesh, Scientific Fellow-Physicist from Budapest, Hungary, visited Guru Nanak Dev University and delivered the lecture.

Dr Hirdesh, an alumni of GNDU, had obtained his doctoral degree from the university in 2021 and is presently working as Scientific Fellow-Physicist in the Neutron Spectroscopy Department at the Centre for Energy Research, Budapest, Hungary. He is actively engaged in frontier research areas including material science, photoluminescent materials, energy storage materials, glasses and software development for nuclear instrument.

In his lecture, he highlighted the fundamentals and advanced applications of X-ray and neutron diffraction techniques for probing the structural properties of energy and health safety materials. He emphasised how these powerful tools provide unique insights into atomic arrangements, crystal structures and magnetic ordering, playing a vital role in developing advanced clean energy for societal benefits.
