Expo featuring watercolour paintings opens
Amritsar, June 18
As part of its summer art festivals, Indian Academy of Fine Arts (IAFA) opened an exhibition of watercolour paintings by artists from the city on Saturday.
The paintings displayed are from artists who participated in the IAFA workshop on watercolour paintings under its summer art camp. The works displayed include paintings by senior as well as amateur artists and present varied themes including landscapes, one of the most popular genres with watercolour as medium. The exhibition was inaugurated by noted artist Dr Gopal Kirodimal, who along with other members of IAFA appreciated the efforts to hone young art talent in the city.
A collection of works by around 23 artists from various parts of the city decorated the walls, some taking inspiration from hills, some from their own surroundings while others presenting social issues through abstractism.
“Each painting speaks volumes about the creative eye with which an artist sees the world around him whether it’s a curvy hill road, or sunset, a portrait and what not. Anything that catches the eye or imagination of an artist is there on the canvas. These paintings were made during live interactions and workshops intended to bring out the collective creative expression of artists from the city,” said Arvinder Chamak, an artist and general secretary, IAFA.
The exhibition will go on till the end of the summer art camp till June 30.
