Eye on exams, District Library to now remain open till 6 pm
The District Library, located in the District Administrative Complex (DAC), will now remain open for the general public till 6 pm. Deputy Commissioner Sakshi Sawhney said this while addressing a meeting with officials. The decision was taken with the intention of providing library facilities to children to help prepare for the PCS and other competitive examinations.
The DC clarified that a large number of children from the district take the PCS examination while they do not have access to study material. “As they are dependent on public libraries for study material, it has been decided that the District Library will remain open till evening,” she said.
The DC added that it was necessary for the District Library to remain open till late in the evening so that those who are interested can access it accordingly. “I invite them to now study till 6 pm while enjoying the facilities of this library and achieve success in the examination,” she said.
The District Library is the only public library Amritsar has with the largest collection of books. Since its access is free of cost, and is meant for all, it evidently becomes the access point for many readers and students who are preparing for various competitive exams.
