Under the banner of the Punjab Khet Mazdoor Sabha (PKMS), a large number of workers and members of weaker sections of society in protest against the vandalism of the statue of Dr BR Ambedkar in Amritsar a few days ago organised a protest march at Sarhali Kalan here on Sunday. They called upon the weaker sections of society to be more politically aware to face the challenges to their existence.

Addressing on the occasion, Comrade Devi Kumari, state general secretary, PKMS, reminded them of the contribution of members of the Scheduled Caste communities towards the country’s freedom movement, especially the contribution of Dr BR Ambedkar, who is known as the Father of the Indian Constitution as he drafted the Indian Constitution. She cautioned the state government and the Centre that the downtrodden sections of society would in no way bear such acts of vandalism.

Sukhdev Singh Kot, Gaurvjit Singh, Lakhwinder Singh and Pritam Kaur were among others who addressed on the occasion. The activists raised slogans against acts of vandalism.
