Farmers protest police inaction in suicide case

The aggrieved family has refused to perform the cremation of the deceased though five days have passed since the death took place. Nachhatter Singh, district president of KKU, said that the deceased Satnam Singh had written a suicide note before his death in which he had mentioned the name of a woman of the same village and said that she and others tried to demolish his house and take his life. Because of this, he was taking the extreme step as he was unable to bear the pain. SHO Vipin Kumar and police post in-charge Harvinder Singh have not even recorded the statement of Balveer Kaur, mother of the deceased.
Nachhattar Singh said that lack of police action on the basis of suicide note has made the farmers lodge a protest on the issue. The KKU leader warned that in case action is not taken against the accused, the union would have no alternative but to intensify the agitation. The family members of the deceased and union leaders insisted that the police and administration should provide justice immediately. The union leaders warned that in case the police failed to do justice, the farmers would intensify their protest. Sukhdev Singh, Kashmir Singh, Jawahar Singh, Jiun Singh, Nazar Singh and other leaders also spoke on the occasion and condemned the police.
