Amritsar: DAV College, Amritsar, has announced to give special concessions for board toppers. Fee has been completely waived off for students who have scored above 95 percentile. Similarly, the fee waiver has been reduced up to 40 per cent for those who have scored more than 90 per cent marks. Students securing above 85 per cent in Class XII will get a direct rebate of 30 per cent. Principal Dr Rajesh Kumar launched Mission Admission, 2022, at the college and said SC students would be given education free of cost. Apart from this, registration has been started for students whose results have not been declared.

DAV student in state cricket camp

Ekamnoor Singh Sandhu, Class XII (humanities) student and cricket exponent, made the school proud by qualifying for under-19 Punjab state cricket team camp at the PCA, Mohali. He was the cynosure of all eyes during the under-19 and under-23 inter-district tournament with his stupendous performance. His brilliant innings against Ferozepur and Jalandhar district teams paved way for his selection to the camp. Extending heartwarming adulation to Sandhu, Dr Resham Sharma, teacher in-charge, extended gratitude to Dr Deepak Shoor (Chairman, cricket and table tennis, Amritsar cluster), Mayank (mentor) and sports faculty for guiding young talent in the right direction.

Bhavans SL school organises havan

Bhavans SL School on Tuesday held a havan on its premises. It was attended by the staff, management and other members of the school along with Chairman Avinash Mahindru and Director-Principal Anita Bhalla. Bhalla said the school often hosted religious ceremonies and encouraged awareness regarding religious practices to inculcate cultural values among its students. “It also enhances one’s knowledge about the religious manuscripts and texts that teach us about our rich past,” she added.

Data science & business analytics batch

The IIM, Amritsar, inaugurated the maiden batch of the postgraduate certificate programme in data science and business analytics (DSBA) on July 4 on the college premises. It is a one-year on-campus programme, designed for young graduates with up to two years of work experience, who aspire to develop analytical thinking and decision-making skills. The inaugural address for the programme was delivered by Dr Mahima Gupta, Dean of Academics, in the presence of Dr Ankit Sharma and Dr Shuvabrata Chakraborty, the coordinators of the programme, and Dr Sunil Reddy Kunduru, Chair, IT and Computational Systems. Students were explained the relevance of data science and analytics in today’s fast-changing industry needs. Dr Ankit gave the mantra of experimenting and discovering new avenues in the field of data science and how the entire curriculum would connect all dots that are key focus areas in the field.
