Ferozepur railway division earns Rs 2.72 cr through ticket checking
The Ferozepur railway division earned a revenue of Rs 2.72 crore, including Rs 44 lakh from Amritsar railway station, through ticket checking in December.
The ticket checking staff conducted an intensive drive in trains to curb ticketless and irregular travellers to provide better services to all genuine rail users. During ticket checking in trains in December, a total of 27,834 passengers were found travelling without a ticket or irregularly by the ticket checking staff and chief ticket inspectors of the division and a total revenue of Rs 2.72 crore was recovered from them as fine.
Regular checking is done at the main stations of the division to keep the railway stations clean and to prevent railway passengers from littering and make them aware about cleanliness. As a result, Rs 60,700 was recovered from 392 passengers in December as fine for littering in the station premises under the Anti-Littering Act.
Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) Sanjay Sahu said ticket checking campaigns will continue in Ferozepur division. The main objective of ticket checking is to improve the sale of train tickets and ensure that no passenger travels without a ticket. The target of zero ticketless travel has been set in Ferozepur Railway Division.
