Film crew shoots across historic Sikh sites for documentary on Sant Teja Singh

A documentary drama tracing the life and legacy of Sant Teja Singh, one of the most respected Sikh saints, educationists and social reformers of the 20th century, is currently under production by Shinesphere Entertainment. Directed by Sshivendu Ramesh Mahajan and produced by Rekha and Sshivendu Ramesh Mahajan, the film aims to bring Sant Teja Singh’s extraordinary journey from Punjab to the Western world to the screen, highlighting how his teachings continue to influence communities across generations.
The project is being filmed at several historic and spiritually significant locations, including Baru Sahib, Zirakpur, Cheema Sahib, Sangrur, Mastuana Sahib, Nabha, Talwandi Sabo, Paonta Sahib, Amritsar, Chandigarh, Gurdaspur and Banaras.
Harshjot Kaur, who is part of the documentary, said the film carries a deep sense of responsibility. “This is not just a film, it is a responsibility. Sant Teja Singh believed that education can uplift entire generations and his vision for women’s empowerment was far ahead of his time. Through this documentary, we hope today’s youth will understand the importance of education, humility and service to humanity,” she said.
Director Sshivendu Ramesh Mahajan said the project seeks to highlight Sant Teja Singh’s universal message. “The life of Sant Teja Singh is an inspiration to the world. His journey ‘From Punjab to the Western World’ served as a bridge of peace and understanding between cultures. Our message through this documentary is simple: the values of education, equality and compassion are timeless, and the world needs them now more than ever,” he said.
The film also explores the global recognition of Sant Teja Singh’s contributions, including the annual observance of Sant Teja Singh Day in British Columbia, Canada. Once completed, the documentary is expected to premiere at various film festivals before being released on OTT platforms and national television.
The makers say they hope the film encourages viewers not only to learn about Sant Teja Singh’s life but also to reflect on the enduring relevance of his teachings, which continue to guide and inspire people around the world.
