A fire broke out at a cosmetic shop located in the IDH Market adjacent to the bus stand at 1 pm today. The municipal corporation’s Fire Brigade Department received information about the blaze at 1.10 pm. Three fire tenders from the MC and one from the Seva Samiti Society were rushed to the spot to control fire.

Fire officer Yashpal Puri said a two-storey cosmetic and beauty products shop was gutted in the blaze. The fire broke out in the basement of the shop and spread in the whole building quickly. Goods were lying on narrow stairs inside the shop due to which fire brigade personnel had to toil hard to control the blaze. Puri said the fire was brought under control after two hours by the fire brigade personnel.

The cause of the fire was yet to be ascertained, he said. No loss of life was reported in the incident, he added.
