Five arrested for lapses in treatment of convict

The team of the City police, Tarn Taran led by ASI Gurpreet Singh in a raid at the emergency ward of the local Civil Hospital on Wednesday night found serious lapses at the part of the wardens of the Central Jail, Goindwal Sahib who were deputed for a convicted lodged in the Central jail, Goindwal Sahib and was admitted at the hospital for treatment.

Inspector Harpreet Singh SHO , City police said that against the lapses the convict Karandeep Singh of Rajpur Chabb (Gurdaspur) , one of the three warden Arashdeep Singh, three private aides of the convict identified as Jashanpreet Singh Jashan of Rasulpur Nehran village, Taranpreet Singh Taran and Gurjatinder Singh Shera both of Noordi Adda, Tarn Taran have been arrested on the spot. Two jail wardens Balwinder Singh and Amrit Sharma are yet to be arrested.

Karandeep Singh convict was admitted at the civil hospital for treatment and three jail wardens were deputed on him at the emergency ward of the hospital.

The SHO said that the police party in its raid found the wardens absent from the spot and saw that the aids of the convict Karandeep Singh were making movie on their mobiles with the official rifle violating all the norms. The police have taken the official rifle of the wardens in its possession. A case under section 52 Prison act and 25, 29,54 ,59 of the arms act has been registered against the accused.
