The Lopoke police have arrested four persons on the charge of illegal mining. The police have also seized four tractor-trolleys loaded with 1,600 cubic feet of sand.

ASI Narinder Singh said four tractors-trolleys were stopped at the Khasa turn near Ram Tirath during a checking.

He said the sand loaded in the trolleys was brought from an illegal sand mine on a water body in the area. The suspects have been identified as Manga Singh of Tera Rajputtan, Sukhjinder Singh and Angrej Singh of Talo village and Pyara Singh of Vehra.

A case under Sections 379 and 411 of the IPC and Section 21 of the Mining Act has been registered against the suspects.
