The Gharinda police have booked four persons, including two Kapurthala residents, in separate incidents for allegedly duping local residents on the pretext of sending them abroad.
Those booked have been identified as Paramjit Singh of Kapurthala’s Tahli village and Surinder Kaur of Lakhan De Padde village in Kapurthala, Nirvail Singh and his mother Sawinder Kaur of Kohali village on Ram Tirath Road. No arrest has been made till now.
Balwinder Singh of Kallewal village in his complaint to the police in February alleged that Paramjit and Surinder Kaur took Rs 11 lakh from him for sending him abroad. However, they gave him fake documents and did not return the money. Attari DSP probed the case and following DA’s legal opinion a case under Sections 420, 120-B of the IPC was registered against the two.
Similarly, Baljinder Singh of Sun Sahib Road in Chheharta in his complaint filed in April alleged that the duo duped him of Rs 50 lakh for sending him abroad. They neither send him abroad nor returned the money. A case under Sections 420 and 120-B of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) was registered against them after a probe by Attari DSP.
