Four drug peddlers held in separate cases

The Amritsar Rural Police have arrested two drug peddlers and recovered 920 tablets of banned tramadol and 150 gm of heroin from their possession. They were identified as Bugga Singh and Jaggi Singh, both residents of Khanwal village.

SSP Satinder Singh said they were travelling on a bike (PB-02-EH-8965) when a patrolling police party intercepted them while going from the Sarangdev village canal bridge to Jaggiwal village here on Friday. Getting suspicious, the police team searched them and recovered the contraband and 92 strips of tramadol tablets.

The police have registered a case under the NDPS Act against them and further investigations were in progress to expose their backward and forward links, the SSP said.

Meanwhile, the Lopoke police have arrested Karnail Singh and Harpreet Singh, both residents of Sarangra village, for allegedly possessing 50-gm opium and 15-gm heroin, respectively. They were going towards Kakkar Manjh village when they were nabbed by the police team from near the grain market of the village.

A separate case under the NDPS Act was registered against the duo.
