The Ghee Mandi chowk, which is visited by a large number of tourists coming from the ISBT and the Amritsar-Delhi GT road to the Golden Temple, is swarming with rats.

A large number of rats and their holes have become a cause of concern for not only tourists but also local residents who visit here. These holes and rats can pose health problems to the visitors.

Manjot Singh, a shopkeeper, said, “The Ghee Mandi chowk is situated at the entrance of the Heritage Street and green belt in the roundabout has not been attended for a long, leaving it without grass and vegetation. So, loose earth becomes a great help for rats to set up their colony.Kulbir Singh, another resident said, the presence of a large number of rats offered an ugly look and an unhygienic environment to visitors. They could cause an outbreak of diseases to shopkeepers and residents of nearby areas.
