Girl, family booked for cheating her husband after settling abroad
The Majitha police have booked a girl, an NRI, and her family members for allegedly cheating her husband and abandoning him after settling in New Zealand.
The police booked her following a preliminary probe on the complaint filed by the victim’s father Manpreet Singh, a resident of Warayam Nangal village.
Besides the girl, Navjot Kaur, the police also booked her father Baldev Singh and her brother Arshdeep Singh, all residents of Gurdaspur though no arrest has been made in the case so far.
The police said a case under Section 318 (4) and 61 of BNS has been registered in this connection and further probe was on.
Manpreet Singh submitted a complaint with the police on September 7. He alleged that Navjot Kaur was married to his son Nirvair Singh. He alleged that she had completed her IELTS before marriage and had married her son only to cheat him. She promised to take her son along after getting PR over there. She went on a student visa and they spent Rs 22 lakh for the same.
Later, the accused blocked her son. He said when his son went to New Zealand, she avoided him. Later, they came to know that she had married some other man and had a child from that marriage. He alleged that this left the family shattered as they had taken loan for sending her abroad. He alleged that she married there again without divorcing him.
The police authorities said that further investigation in the case was on. They said that efforts were on to nab the suspects.
