When the girl’s family went to the boy’s house to take her back, his family members attacked and shot at them, leaving one of them with splinter injuries. He had to be admitted to a hospital for treatment.
The complainant alleged that the accused also threatened to kidnap the victim’s second daughter. Following his complaint, Bhindi Saida police have booked around 10 persons on the charge of attempt to murder and under provisions of the Arms Act.
Among those booked were Sucha Singh, Sukha Singh, Joga Singh and Amrik Singh, all residents of Bhindi Saida, apart from six unknown persons.
The complainant alleged that last night, Happy Singh of Bhindi Saida, lured away his daughter on grounds of marriage. He said when he along with his father came to the accused’s house where his father Sucha Singh, along with Sukha Singh, Joga Singh and Amrik and other unknown persons, was sitting with their faces covered. All of them were armed with rifles and other weapons. He said when his father asked them to return his daughter, the accused shouted at them and threatened to kidnap their second daughter also.
They fired a couple of shots in the air. Frightened, they rushed towards their tractor to escape but suffered splinters injuries in the process. The armed accused also chased their tractor on their tractor and hit them. They fell down and were thrashed badly by the accused. The assailants fled when people started gathering there.
The police said raids were on to arrest the accused who were absconding from their houses.
