Girl students get training in self-defence

As per the instructions of the Education Department, girl students of all schools of the district are being trained in karate.

District Sports Coordinator Jugraj Singh said the 40-day coaching programme has been launched under ‘Rani Laxmibai Self Defence Scheme‘, wherein schoolgirls will be imparted training in karate. Under the supervision of Dimple Aggarwal, principal of Shaheed Chanchal Singh Government Secondary School, Lahuka, the students are being trained under the guidance of Rupinderjit Kaur, lecturer (physical education), and Pardeep Singh, DPE. He added that it must be ensured that all the girl students receive the training, as it is necessary to learn self-defence and also boosts self-confidence in women.

Jugraj Singh said after the completion of the training, block and district level Karate competitions will be held to boost self-confidence of the students.
