GNDU clinches overall trophy in All India judo championship

The event witnessed participation from more than 200 teams and over 450 judokas from across the country

Guru Nanak Dev University (GNDU) secured the overall general championship trophies in both the men’s and women’s categories at the All India Inter-University Judo Championship held at the GNDU campus from January 15 to 17.

This event witnessed participation from more than 200 teams and over 450 judokas from across the country. The women’s team emerged victorious with 22 points, leaving behind Panjab University, Chandigarh, which secured the second position with 11 points. In the men’s category, GNDU once again triumphed by scoring 24 points, followed by MDU Rohtak — which stood second with 9 points.

Dr Kanwar Mandeep Singh, Director of Sports at GNDU, extended heartfelt congratulations to Harmeet Singh, the judo coach, and the entire team for their outstanding performance and dedication. He praised the athletes for their hard work and determination. He also applauded the medal-winning players from other universities and highlighted the spirit of sportsmanship displayed throughout the competition.

GNDU’s women’s football team also secured the silver medal at the All India Inter-University Football (Women) Championship, held at GNA University, Phagwara, from January 11 to 16.
